Job Description

PURPOSE:
Exemplifies and ensures strong customer service in all areas of the job. Provides a superior quality product that exceeds the customers' expectations. Working knowledge of the department functions and maintains adequate amount of fresh inventory.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service.
  • Assists customers by making product suggestions.
  • Engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom announcements and one-on-one customer interaction.
  • Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately. Receive and appropriately resolves customer complaints and reports to Store Director as needed.
  • Builds Grocery displays, rotates and discards outdated or spoiled product. Ensures cleanliness of work area and department.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays. Assists with coordinating grocery sales promotions.
  • Ensures that merchandise is correctly priced and displayed and that shelves are clean and properly maintained.
  • Ability to follow and maintain department standards and requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper code dating for all products within the department are being enforced.
  • Assists with physical inventory taken every 6 months.
  • Controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality and freshness and maintains inventory levels according to division directives. Stocks and rotates product.
  • May assist with ordering Grocery products and maintaining inventory levels according to Division directives. Supervises the processing of all reclamation as well as maintains orderly and in stock conditions in back room and all Grocery Department areas.
  • Controls shrink and cost.
  • Implements correct product preparation techniques. Uses and operates related equipment such as pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters and Sterilox machine.
  • Performs receiving duties including breaking downloads, verifying orders using invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortage, stocking, and rotating product. Adheres to product temperature and storage guidelines and follows proper packaging techniques. Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records.
  • Accurately completes, maintains, and monitors daily log sheet, sales and labor and other required paperwork and logs.
  • Ensures that proper temperature levels for product are maintained. Complies with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company, and code dating policies.
  • Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures safety, cleanliness and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment, and display area, including code date compliance as required.
  • Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions.
  • Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
  • Complies with and ensures compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Responsible for performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately and with honesty and integrity.
  • Other necessary and required duties.
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professional demeanor regarding customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to frequently reach, lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 50 lbs. Bends, stoops and reaches frequently. Pushes and pulls fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks. Performs repetitious arm movement to prepare, package and display products.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are necessary. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities. Requires knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures. Must have knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling and department policies and procedures.
  • Operates telephone, pallet jack, hand truck, knives, scissors, safety cutters and Sterilox machine. Utilizes cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices to order product.
  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is required.
  • Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aids necessary to perform job duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Generally, works in a temperature-controlled environment.
Frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions and items at or around 35°. May be exposed to -20° F while handling products in freezer. A Day in the

As a Night Stocker, you provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service. You keep the store looking filled and fresh by stocking and organizing merchandise on the shelves. You work with various approved tools throughout your shift (box cutters, compactors, forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.) to help you get your job done. The Night Stocker is the magic behind the scenes who creates that attractive store appearance for our customers through ensuring it's stocked, clean, and bright. This individual also gets the opportunity to expand their experiences as cashier or checker from time to time. What you bring to the table:
