This position oversees daily department operations, including quality control, handling and rotation, merchandising, and communication with customers and team members. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain consistent freshness, quality, and rotation of produce following store procedures. Ensure produce displays are clean, attractive, and aligned with seasonal and cultural demand. Assign daily tasks to produce clerks and monitor workflow. Greet and assist customers; provide product knowledge on specialty and ethnic produce. Communicate in both English and Spanish to assist customers, coordinate with store teams, and train staff. Maintain sanitation, organization, and safety of the produce area, prep zones, and coolers. Monitor stock levels on the sales floor and in back stock areas. Coordinate with Store Manager regarding promotions, signage, and pricing adjustments. Ensure compliance with health department rules and internal food safety procedures. Report equipment issues, spoilage, waste, and customer concerns to Store Management. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Prior experience in produce handling, merchandising, or grocery retail required. Knowledge of specialty and ethnic produce preferred (Indian ingredients highly valued). Bilingual English & Spanish required. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to lead small teams and assign work. Knowledge of quality grading, and food safety. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods. Basic math and weighing/scaling ability. Work Environment Cold storage/refrigerated environments. Frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and standing. Exposure to wet floors, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals.

Pay:

$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
