Job Description

Primary Responsibilities :
Grocery Stocking:
Shelves are kept full and always fronted to aid customers in their selection process.
Grocery stockers will:
  • Follow proper lifting and handling procedures.
  • Open boxes carefully and safely.
  • Efficiently stock products.
  • Check shelf tags.
  • Remove and record damaged, out-of-date, and spoiled products.
  • Face shelves.
  • Maintain clear pathways in aisles when stocking.
  • For overstock, combine partial cases into single, well-labeled cases, and return all product to designated backstock areas.
  • Stack and/or break down and recycle empty boxes.
  • Stay productive throughout the shift.
Communication:
  • Consistently communicate respectfully, openly and honestly.
  • Listen attentively to others, ask questions, and remain open to other viewpoints.
Customer Service:
Customer service is Fiddleheads' primary focus. It is the goal that all customers are treated in a respectful and courteous manner.
  • Provide customer service as needed.
  • Be open and ready to assist customers.
  • Assist all customers in a prompt, friendly, courteous manner.
  • Resolve customer complaints fairly and with tact.
Additional Customer Service Specific to the
Grocery Department :
  • Treat customers in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • Answer and address all Grocery-related questions, requests, complaints and suggestions.
  • Become familiar with the product lines.
  • Assist customers in placing pre-orders.
  • Assist customers in finding products.
  • Monitor point of purchase information to ensure it is accurate.
  • Maintain department in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Ensure department staff assist customers fully.
Other Grocery Stocker Responsibilities:
  • Sweep and mop floors as needed.
  • Dust and wipe shelves, cases and products.
  • Assist with fresh food preparation.
  • Review invoices for accuracy and make corrections where necessary.
  • Make sure deliveries are distributed to the correct department or person.
  • Maintain a clean and organized receiving room.
  • Assist in fulfillment of online orders as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
Additional General Responsibilities:
  • Know what makes Co-ops unique.
  • Explain/promote Fiddleheads membership.
  • Take initiative to increase product knowledge.
  • Develop knowledge of in-store product locations and where to locate product information.
  • Willingness to learn about and take on new responsibilities.
  • Orient and be helpful to new employees.
  • Set a positive example for co-workers.
  • Maintain good working relations with other Fiddleheads staff.
  • Encourage and demonstrate teamwork.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Follow storewide policies, procedures and expectations.
  • Answer phones as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to properly lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 30 pounds.
  • Physical flexibility to stand, walk, squat, bend, balance and rotate body.
  • Physical ability to work in cold environment for limited periods of time.
  • Willingness and ability to handle fresh meat and seafood.
  • Excellent organizational skills and diligence.
  • Excellent and consistent customer service skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain favorable relations with customers, staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of whole, natural, and organic foods.
  • Experience in setting and stocking grocery products.
