Grocery Store Clerk

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Grocery Associate to join our team at a new organic produce market and Chef's Table in Woodbridge. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing excellent service to our customers while ensuring that the Market operates smoothly. This position involves various responsibilities, including assisting customers, managing market inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized shopping environment. Duties Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product selection. Operate cash registers/POS system efficiently, handling transactions accurately while maintaining a friendly demeanor. Stock shelves with products, ensuring proper rotation and organization of inventory to enhance the shopping experience. Assist in sales efforts through upselling techniques and promoting special offers to maximize customer satisfaction. Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding inventory levels, customer feedback, and any issues that arise. Maintain cleanliness in the grocery area, including regular cleaning of displays and ensuring aisles are free of clutter. Utilize basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management tasks. Exhibit professional phone etiquette when answering calls related to store inquiries or customer concerns. Qualifications Previous experience in retail sales or grocery environments is preferred but not required. Good understanding of seasonal produce. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and inventory counts. Ability to work as part of a team while also being able to take initiative when needed. Experience with cash registers and point-of-sale systems is a plus. Knowledge of stock management practices is beneficial for maintaining inventory levels efficiently.
