JOB SUMMARY
The Missing Pieces Lead is responsible for leading the daily execution of the Missing Pieces process to ensure exception orders are investigated, resolved, and released back into outbound flow quickly and accurately. This role coordinates root-cause identification across picking, packing, inventory, and system processes while directing associates through standardized research and recovery activities. The Missing Pieces Lead partners cross-functionally to reduce aged exceptions, prevent recurring defects, and protect customer service levels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(includes other duties as required): Lead daily execution of the Missing Pieces queue by prioritizing work based on aging, volume, and service risk. Assign and direct associates through standard research processes including system review, physical searches, and verification steps. Investigate missing or short items by validating transaction history, scan activity, and order status. Conduct location checks, tote and carton audits, pack station sweeps, and label verification as required. Partner with Packing leadership to resolve pack-side misses and unreleased cartons. Partner with Picking and Replenishment teams to resolve short picks, incorrect locations, and replenishment-related misses. Escalate inventory discrepancies, damage, or suspected shrink to Inventory Control leadership. Track and report backlog levels, aging, recovery rates, and root cause trends. Verify fixes are completed correctly before orders are released back to processing. Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready problem-solve areas. Train and mentor Missing Pieces associates on standard work and safety expectations. Support additional DC functions as needed to support service and flow. May be required to work different shifts or schedules based on operational needs. Other duties may be assigned as deemed consistent with operational objectives.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

Previous lead, problem-solve, packing, picking, or inventory experience preferred. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized processes. Proficient with WMS systems, scanners, and basic computer tools. Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently. Team-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset. Safety-conscious.
