Job Summary General Purpose:
To provide overall support to Grocery Department. To meet departmental objectives for accuracy, timeliness, and customer service. All Sunflower Market jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and consistently efficient service to customers and employees. All positions must strive to support Sunflower Market's core values and goals, promote store programs and initiatives, and ensure adherence to all applicable health and safety regulations including Food Safety and regulatory duties required in the department. This role is responsible for providing effective support, communication, goal setting, and planning to the team. This role plays a critical part in achieving sales targets, maintaining product presentation, and fostering a customer-centric environment.
Essential Job Functions:
Customer Service:
o Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and effectively. o Answering customer questions effectively and clearly. o Greet all customers with a smile and eye contact. o Hold self accountable for a high level exceptional customer service. o Offer prompt, friendly customer service in person and on the phone, route phone calls and take messages as needed.
Department Responsibilities:
o Alert Department Manager (DM), Assistant Department Manager (ADM), or Manager on Duty (MOD) to potential shoplifters, disorderly customers, or other emergencies if assistance is needed. o Alert DM or ADM if department is lacking or low on any essential supplies. o Check inventory for any damages, freshness, and expiration dates regularly. o Create visual arrangements for displays, ensuring all signage and pricing are correct. o Perform inventory counts as directed by management. o Practice proper receiving procedures when checking in and unpacking deliveries, reporting damages, mispicks, and missing items to the Department Manager (DM) and Assistant Department Manager (ADM). o Remove spoiled, damaged, and expired products from displays and inventory daily. o Work product from the back of house to the front of house through means of stocking, filling, and packing using proper rotation. o Wrap, package, and merchandise products as directed by DM and ADM.
Store & Department Support:
o Attend department and storewide meetings as required. o Bag items and assist customers when needed. o Run register when needed. o Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on the sales floor. o Familiarity with store policies, products, and proactive customer service. o Keep the department clean and organized, including washing displays, dusting shelves, and cleaning up spills. o Maintain and ensure maintenance of a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment while ensuring compliance with established procedures such as Weights and Measures and inspections. o Maintain equipment and report issues to the DM, ADM, or MOD in their absence depending on urgency. o Monitor cooler/freezer temperatures. o Stay informed of the latest developments and trends in department products. o Sustain a level of knowledge and awareness of industry trends. o Support Sunflower Market by fronting and assisting in other departments as requested by DM, ADM, or MOD.

Qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of product standards.
- Knowledge of organic, natural, non-GMO, and dietary needs.
- Proficient in using point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
- Retail experience, preferably in a grocery department in a natural food store.
- Strong knowledge of natural and organic grocery and wellness products, including current market trends and sustainability practices.

$17.00 - $21.00 per hour
