Job Description

•This position is a part-time limited to 690hrs and limited term through 12-31-2026• The purpose of this position is to serve as the primary visual storyteller for the Fairgrounds, Events and Tourism Department by planning and executing high-end, cinematic multimedia content. This role is responsible for the development and creation of professional-grade video, photography, and graphic design assets intended to modernize the County's public image and drive measurable growth in the tourism sector.
Cinematic Content Production:
Responsible for the creation, production, and strategic use of marketing assets, including cinematic videography, editorial photography, and professional graphic design including storyboarding, filming with professional cinema-grade equipment, and advanced post-production such as color grading and sound design.
Software Mastery :
Utilize industry-standard software such as the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator), CapCut, Canva, and Edits to produce high-quality digital and print materials.
Graphic Design & Brand Identity:
Creates visually compelling assets for all platforms, including television, social media, and print, ensuring all materials maintain a modern aesthetic and consistent brand identity.
Maintenance & Inventory:
Responsible for the routine maintenance, cleaning, and organized storage of all departmental multimedia hardware, including cameras, lenses, lighting kits, and audio gear.
Social Media Content Strategy:
Develops and schedules platform-optimized content for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant channels; monitors engagement metrics and adjusts strategy accordingly.
Troubleshooting:
Performs regular firmware updates and technical troubleshooting to ensure all production equipment is in optimal working order for "on-call" assignments.
Strategic Asset Use:
Collaborates with the Department Manager and Lodging Tax Advisory Committee to ensure all video and design assets are used strategically in advertising and marketing campaigns and align with approved lodging tax expenditure goals.
Digital Platform Management:
Assists in the visual development and regular maintenance of the Fairgrounds, Events, and Tourism websites to ensure content is engaging and up-to-date.
Public Relations Support:
Develops creative content for press releases, in-house publications, and promotional kits to maintain high-quality media relations within the tourism sector.
Event Documentation & Support:
Provides on-site creative coverage and operational "extra help" for major department initiatives, such as the Grays Harbor County Fair and other County-sponsored events as assigned.
Trend & Technology Monitoring:
Maintains current knowledge of the latest technologies, trends, and software in the fast-changing multimedia and tourism industries.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepares regular reports regarding the progress of marketing projects, the distribution of creative materials, and the impact of visual campaigns including reach, impressions, and engagement data where available.
Departmental Representation:
Represents the County's creative and tourism interests at professional conferences, workshops, and tradeshows as required.
Other Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to organize work and meet established deadlines. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as dictated by the event schedule. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers, supervisors and the general public. Knowledge of social media platforms and best practices for content creation and audience. Ability to pass a criminal history background check.
Education and Experience:
Technical school or Bachelor's degree in Multimedia Production, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field is preferred. Five years of progressive experience in videography, photography, marketing, or graphic design, including demonstrated experience producing content for public-facing campaigns. A digital portfolio or demo reel demonstrating high-end video and design work is required and must be submitted with the application. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Experience in governmental accounting and budgeting desired. A valid Washington State driver's license and acceptable driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with varying degrees of noise and temperament of people. Physical requirements include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, a sense of touch, finger dexterity, ability to grip with hands and fingers, ability to hear voice conversation, ability to speak and the ability to read existing records in their original and stored formats.
This position typically requires:
Reaching, Standing, Sitting, Mobility, Lifting, Grasping, and Seeing. Work includes significant outside work and travel, often in varying weather conditions.
