TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE
II, NAMs, Biological Engineering and Center for Gynepathology Research - Griffith lab, to provide technical support for a newly awarded NIH Center grant focused on novel approach methodologies (NAMs) for Women's Health, building and implementing living sex-specific liver patient avatars and endometriosis patient avatars for therapeutic development; support the laboratory's broader efforts to develop and advanced human liver microphysiological systems to improve prediction of disease biology and drug responses; preparate and execute routine wet lab experiments under the supervision of a postdoctoral associate and in coordination with other laboratory members; contribute to experimental activities, including assay execution, sample processing, cell culture workflows, and other laboratory tasks for development and application of NAMs and microphysiological systems; and perform mammalian cell culture and related experimental activities independently, including routine maintenance of cell lines and support for experiments involving primary cells or other specialized culture systems as needed. REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in biology, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related technical discipline; a minimum of four years of laboratory experience in biological research; bench-top laboratory experience in biological research; experience with cell culture, assay-based laboratory, aseptic technique, and mammalian cell culture, ELISA and other plate-based assays, flow cytometry, qPCR, western blot, or related molecular biology methods; experience immunostaining and/or microscopy, sample tracking, record keeping, and laboratory documentation; experience with standard laboratory equipment such as microscopes, plate readers, and spectrophotometers; be detail-oriented, highly organized, and an excellent record keeper; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both collaboratively and independently, manage multiple priorities, follow established protocols carefully, troubleshoot routine technical issues, and maintain high standards of reproducibility and documentation; proficiency with standard computer programs, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED
Experience with translational research; knowledge of liver biology, primary human hepatocytes, or liver-relevant cell systems; and experience with organ-on-chip systems, microfluidic platforms, 3D culture, tissue engineering, or related biomaterials-based methods. This is a 1-year position with the possibility of an extension based on funding availability. Some experimental protocols may require occasional weekend hours. 5/27/2026
