This role is designed for a high-energy salesperson who can leverage our robust shop capabilities to win new business, expand existing accounts, and seamlessly bridge the gap between our regional sales force and internal production. We have a strong foundation in place, including a top-tier Shop Manager and a dedicated Customer Service Representative. We need a dedicated hunter and relationship manager who is technically sharp, possesses a deep understanding of machining and fabrication processes, is fully comfortable reading complex blueprints, and is not afraid to get their hands dirty on the shop floor or in the field to understand a customer's true operational needs.
Primary Responsibilities Drive Top-Line Revenue:
Proactively identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities within the laser, brake, and waterjet fabrication markets to directly impact top-line growth.
Southeast Territory Support:
Partner with and support our established regional Account Management team across the Southeast, serving as the subject-matter fabrication expert to help uncover and close specialized opportunities within their existing customer base.
Project Lifecycle Oversight:
Act as the vital link between sales and operations by actively communicating, tracking, and moving fabrication projects through the shop floor to guarantee on-time delivery and strict adherence to client specifications.
Local Material Logistics:
Provide high-touch service to local accounts by personally handling the pickup and drop-off of materials, prototypes, or finished fabricated parts when necessary to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction.
Blueprint & Technical Interpretation:
Analyze customer blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications for fabricated parts to accurately assess project viability, tolerances, and collaborate on highly accurate, competitive quoting.
Relationship Management:
Build deep, lasting partnerships with manufacturing engineers, procurement teams, and operations managers, acting as a trusted consultant to improve their productivity and operational efficiency.
Quote System:
Take an active role in learning quoting process, utilizing, and ultimately owning the division's quoting software infrastructure to ensure fast, accurate, and competitive pricing as fabrication volume scales.
Process Promotion:
Develop a comprehensive understanding of our advanced asset footprint—including our Carolina Water Jet operations to aggressively promote and sell these capabilities. Education & Experience Minimum Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 3-5 years of highly successful experience in industrial manufacturing sales, or contract fabrication sales; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fabrication & Machining Expertise:
Must possess a strong, fluent understanding of machining and fabrication workflows, processes, and methodologies (including laser cutting, brake press forming, tolerances, and CNC machining center capabilities).
Required Technical Skill:
Proven proficiency in reading, interpreting, and translating industrial blueprints, complex CAD drawings, and geometric dimensions for custom fabricated components.
Core Skills & Competencies Sales Hunter & Collaborator:
Driven to outperform the competition through persistent prospecting and creative problem-solving, while remaining team-oriented and capable of collaborating seamlessly with regional account managers.
Technical Domain Knowledge:
Ability to confidently discuss manufacturing tolerances, material types, and fabrication constraints with both internal production experts and customer manufacturing engineers.
Hands-On & Adaptable:
A unique blend of commercial professionalism and a willingness to get your hands dirty—whether that means moving projects through the shop floor, handling local parts delivery, or working directly with customers to solve logistical challenges.
Strong Communication:
Exceptional internal and external communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly translate customer needs to the shop floor and keep projects moving efficiently. Attention to
Detail:
Keen organizational skills to manage multiple accounts, quote requests, internal shop schedules, and local delivery drop-offs simultaneously.
Technical & Computer Skills ERP & Technology Adaptability:
Openness, technical aptitude, and a strong desire to quickly learn, navigate, and master Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems for seamless order tracking and account data management.
Software & CAD Proficiency:
Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD viewing software to open, review, and verify dimensions on customer drawings. High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (specifically heavy use of Excel for data tracking, pricing models, and margin calculations when needed). Comfortable utilizing baseline industrial software, including advanced PDF editing tools (like Adobe Acrobat Pro) for marking up prints, and a general aptitude to take full accountability for specialized fabrication quoting platforms as the department grows.
Work Environment & Physical Demands Environment:
The role involves a dynamic split between a professional office/remote sales environment, collaborative time spent directly on our manufacturing shop floor tracking projects, and routine travel to customer industrial facilities. Noise levels in production areas are usually moderate.
Travel & Logistics:
Regular local and regional occasional overnight travel across the Southeast territory to support industrial clients and cross-functional account managers is required. This includes frequent local driving for material and part delivery/pickup. Must possess an active, valid driver's license.
Physical Attributes:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle materials, and inspect fabricated parts. Must have clear close-range vision (20 inches or less) to accurately inspect blueprints. Must be able to safely lift, load, and transport raw materials or finished fabricated parts for local customer drop-offs. Livingston & Haven is an equal opportunity employer.
