Instruction & Classroom Support Tech 1 (Manufacturing & Trades)

Part-Time Classified Reports to: Dean of M&T Olympic College is recruiting for Instruction & Classroom Support Tech 1 for Manufacturing & Trades. The Instruction & Classroom Support Tech 1 is responsible for the laboratories associated with the Olympic College Welding Technology Program. The responsibilities will include the set-up, demonstration, and maintenance of the welding labs' equipment and tools; turning in work orders for equipment repair; organization and cleanliness of the shop; setting up of laboratory projects for students and demonstrations; assisting students in laboratory welding projects; and overseeing and coordinating the equipment and materials used in competency-based projects performed in the laboratory. Perform cleaning and organization of the program laboratory Prepare materials and equipment for laboratory use Maintain, upgrade, and test existing equipment Inspect and test all safety equipment in the laboratories Assist students with course assignments as needed and monitor equipment and tools Assist in the security and inventory of program equipment and facilities Assist in the safety of students and the condition of machinery as it pertains to safety Must have fundamental knowledge of the operation of the major equipment in the technology lab Assist faculty in maintaining clean and safe welding areas and practices Assist faculty in the inventory and acquisition of supplies Other duties as assigned Supervise tool and equipment use in regard to best practices for equipment longevity and student safety. Oversee student use of equipment, tools and safety gear and stations. Oversee and contribute to quarter-end cleanup of equipment booths and shop.Minimum Qualifications:
Intercommunication skills with diverse students. High school diploma or equivalent Knowledge and experience with these welding processes:GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW.
Experience in troubleshooting small electrical tools.Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of related industry experience and/or five years of educational experience, or 2 years of welding program experience. Excellent communication skills and experience in all welding techniques used in the College-Based welding programs.Successful Candidates Will:
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, faculty (both full-time and part-time), peers, administration, and community contacts using appropriate grammar and interpersonal skills Be familiar with the use of Welding equipment Exercise safe procedures in the use and operation of hand and power tools. Terms of Employment Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $19.50 . They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire, but could qualify for the following. This is a part-time classified position. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A , when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union.
