Job Description
at Hewitt Foods Vermont in Shelburne, Vermont, United States Job Description Sanitation employees are responsible for performing routine cleaning and sanitation activities throughout the plant to support food safety, product quality, and a safe working environment. This role follows established sanitation procedures and schedules to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The position requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety and cleanliness.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform assigned sanitation and cleaning tasks according to the Plant's Master Sanitation Schedule. Clean and sanitize production equipment, tools, floors, walls, and other plant areas. Safely handle and use cleaning chemicals according to SDS and training guidelines. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE. Inspect work areas after cleaning to ensure sanitation standards are met. Report sanitation, safety, or equipment issues to the supervisor or QA team. Assist with preparation for customer, internal, and regulatory inspections. Help identify sanitation deficiencies and participate in corrective actions as directed. Maintain sanitation logs, checklists, and other required documentation. Support pest control and sanitation-related activities as assigned. Follow food safety, quality, and company policies always. Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Previous sanitation or cleaning experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment preferred. Knowledge of basic sanitation, cleaning, and food safety practices. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety. Ability to work well as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repeatedly and stand for most of the shift. Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and occasional weekends. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required.WORK ENVIRONMENT
2nd Shift position - Hours from 5:00pm to 2:00am. Work performed primarily standing. Temperatures at or below 40° F.Production floor environment may include:
