Sanitation Worker I

POSITION SUMMARY

The City of Pittsburg is seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our new sanitation team. As a sanitation employee, you will be responsible for the collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables throughout the city. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the city's streets and neighborhoods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collection and disposal of solid waste and recyclables from residential and commercial properties. Operation of heavy and specialized equipment such as trucks and compactors. Monitoring and reporting any issues related to sanitation services, such as overflowing dumpsters or damaged equipment. Adherence to safety guidelines and procedures during waste collection and disposal. Maintenance of inventory levels for supplies and equipment and reporting any shortages or damages to the supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

POSITION COMPETENCIES

Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects. Familiarity with heavy machinery and equipment operation. Good driving skills and a clean driving record. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions. Attention to detail and ability to identify potential safety hazards.
