Starter/Ranger

SUMMARY The Starter/Ranger is responsible for assuring that payers are properly checked in and following MCOA rules and regulations. S/he also monitors the pace of play.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Posts proper signs on tee signs for cart rules, summer rules, etc. Stocks first tees with scorecards and pencils. Collects receipts from all players or confirms with the golf shop that payers have properly checked in. Keeps tee times running on schedule. Pairs groups when necessary to maximize tee time availability. Records cart numbers. Monitors MCOA rules and regulations (ie: proper dress code, cart rules). Monitors range use and makes sure people practicing are properly checked in. Keeps outside staff informed when range balls need re-stocked. Keeps driving range tee neat and orderly and putting green clear of range balls. Monitors pace of play, driving the course backwards (against play). Informs Head Professional of any cart use violations. Ensures that divots are filled with sand and ball marks are repaired. Turns in tee sheet and receipts at the end of shift. Attends mandatory staff meetings.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Starters/Rangers should have good communication skills, with the ability to converse and understand MCOA members and staff with fluency.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Starters/Rangers need basic computer skills, including the ability to use the Internet.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Minimal math skills are needed in this position.

REASONING ABILITY

Starters/Rangers have the ability to solve problems with minimal assistance.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None are needed for this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Starters/Rangers must be able to stand for long periods of time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Starters/Rangers work primarily outdoors and may be exposed to extreme weather conditions. This is a part-time position.
