Job Description

Category Schools - Social Worker Job Type Contract Step into a contract role supporting students' well-being as a School Social Worker or Counselor at the elementary level. This position will focus on providing vital services to young learners, helping them navigate social, emotional, and behavioral challenges throughout their day. You'll be based in a welcoming elementary environment, making a positive difference from September 9, 2026, through December 12, 2026.
Qualifications and Experience:
Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate social work or counseling endorsement Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting is highly valued Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with students, staff, and families Ability to develop and implement age-appropriate interventions and support plans Compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to addressing student needs Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and RTI processes a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct one-on-one or group counseling sessions to support students' emotional and social development Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote student success Assist in crisis intervention and conflict resolution when needed Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development of student plans Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on social-emotional topics and best practices Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality in all case management Encourage a supportive school climate that fosters inclusion and respect If you're eager to empower elementary students and help them thrive during the fall semester, your skills and passion are needed.
