Compensation $ 15.92 per hour 4 hours are guaranteed every day even if route takes less than 4 hours to complete General Information Most routes are completed in less than 1 hour No full size or mini-school buses, only 7 passenger vans Typically each route only has 1 or 2 youth that need to be transported Job Summary As a Bus Aide at Dreamchasers Community Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transportation. This position is essential to our mission of providing high-quality services to families while promoting a nurturing and supportive environment. Responsibilities Assist children during boarding and disembarking from 7 passenger van (bus), ensuring safe and orderly transitions. Ensure the safety of all passengers during transportation, adhering to New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) guidelines. Provide support to children with special needs or behavioral challenges, ensuring their comfort and safety. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff regarding any concerns or issues. Manage behavior and promote positive interactions among students to maintain a respectful environment. Maintain a clean and organized bus environment, free from hazards or debris. Requirements Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is required. Strong behavior management skills to handle various situations effectively. First aid certification is preferred but not mandatory. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children and adults. Experience in special education or conflict management is a plus. Must pass background checks as required by NJDOE regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to assist children with mobility challenges as needed. Must be able to remain seated or stand for extended periods. Capable of helping children board and disembark, including assisting with seat belts and securing wheelchairs if applicable. Working Conditions Work is performed in a bus environment during scheduled school routes. Hours align with school start and end times, with potential travel between school locations.
