School Bus Driver 2026-27 School Year

Job Summary The Mellen School District is looking for a School Bus Driver for the 2026-27 school year! Duties Safely operate school buses on designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety protocols Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness Communicate clearly with students, parents, and school staff. Manage student behavior on the bus through positive behavior management techniques, ensuring a safe and respectful environment Maintain accurate records of routes, schedules, and incident reports; complete daily logs as required Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, coordinating with emergency responders when necessary Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for school bus. Training can be provided. Proven experience in bus driving or commercial driving, preferably with school bus driving experience Mechanical knowledge of vehicle operations to perform basic inspections and troubleshooting Ability to work with children and demonstrate patience, kindness, and effective behavior management skills Knowledge of safety procedures related to school transportation. Excellent driving record with a focus on safety; familiarity with driving regulations related to school transportation is preferred Ability to handle physical demands such as sitting for extended periods, loading/unloading students, and responding quickly in emergency situations Join us in creating a positive impact on students' daily journeys!
