Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Primary Function To design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program that fosters academic achievement, social-emotional development, and post-secondary readiness, ensuring all students in grades 6-12 are equipped for future success. Major Responsibilities 1. Academic & Student Progress ManagementCase Management:
Monitor academic progress for all students, tracking graduation requirements, maintaining updated transcripts, and managing credit rosters.Academic Coaching:
Identify and collaborate with students experiencing academic difficulties, implementing proactive strategies for middle and high school success.Scheduling:
Develop the master schedule for the middle and high school, and manage individual student course selections.Academic Planning:
Disseminate modern resources regarding course rigor, high school graduation tracks, and post-secondary admission requirements.Grading Oversight:
Review report cards and progress reports to evaluate student performance trends. 2. Comprehensive Assessment & Testing CoordinationTesting Oversight:
Organize, schedule, and supervise all standardized testing for grades 6-12.Assessment Management:
Serve as the building-level coordinator for the following assessments:SAT & PSAT
Organize annual administrations, manage testing logistics, and report results.NWEA:
Oversee seasonal benchmarking administrations to track student growth and inform academic interventions. Advanced Placement (AP): Supervise annual AP test administrations and coordinate student registration.Data Utilization:
Analyze testing and academic data to identify equity gaps and drive student support interventions. 3. Student Support Interventions & 504 CoordinationMulti-Tiered Support:
Provide individual and small-group counseling for students navigating personal, social, and emotional concerns. 504 &Referrals:
Serve as the school contact and coordinator for 504 plans and special education referrals for grades 6-12.Student Intervention Team:
Organize and facilitate bi-monthly Student Intervention Team (SIT/MTSS) meetings.Collaborative Meetings:
Direct parent-teacher-administrative meetings regarding student interventions, accommodations, and 504 plans.External Referrals:
Provide families with appropriate mental health and community resource referrals when necessary. 4. Post-Secondary & Career ReadinessFuture Planning:
Coordinate all aspects of college placement and career guidance services.Individualized Advisory:
Meet with individual students and parents to map out personalized post-high school pathways.Digital Tools:
Utilize modern college and career readiness platforms (e.g., modern equivalents of CareerCruising/College Board) to offer a developmental search process for grades 6-12.Workshops & Events:
• Conduct workshops on college essay writing, financial aid navigation, and application processes. Organize and host annual college nights, college fairs, and career fairs. Host evening informational presentations for parents and students.Recommendations:
Write comprehensive, individualized college and scholarship recommendations for applicants.Experiential Learning:
Coordinate Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs), career speakers, and university representative visits.Regional Programs:
Schedule and coordinate student enrollment and tours for regional vocational programs and charter academies. 5. Community Engagement & Institutional CollaborationParent Consultation:
Assist parents in understanding and supporting the educational, social, and emotional needs of their children.Modern Communication:
Maintain proactive communication with families via contemporary digital tools, including email, school websites, digital newsletters, and parent portals.Staff Collaboration:
Serve as a strategic resource to faculty, staff, and administration to promote a positive, student-centered school climate.Stakeholder Liaison:
Serve as the primary liaison to universities, the College Board, local community colleges, and regional educational institutions.Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned by the administration to support the school community. Education & Credentials •Degree:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution. •Certification:
NH school counselor or equivalent certification required. Salary and Benefits based on CBA.
