Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated School District Treasurer to oversee the financial operations of our educational district. In this vital role, you will manage all aspects of financial management, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Your expertise will help maintain the fiscal health of the district, support strategic planning, and promote transparency in financial activities. //aptg.co/3L438K Responsibilities Manage the district's overall financial activities, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and cash management. Prepare and present detailed financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards. Conduct thorough account reconciliation processes such as balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data. Implement and maintain robust internal controls for technical accounting areas such as double entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial concepts. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing public school finances while maintaining transparency through clear financial report writing. Collaborate with auditors during annual audits Experience Proven experience in governmental accounting within a public or non-profit organization is essential. Strong background in corporate or public accounting with a focus on school districts or similar entities preferred. Demonstrated expertise in SOX compliance, IFRS standards, and regulatory reporting requirements. Extensive knowledge of financial management software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or equivalent tools is required. Familiarity with cash flow management techniques including accounts payable/receivable processes and payroll administration. Solid understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles along with experience in balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis. Ability to interpret complex financial data through detailed analysis and effective report writing skills. Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail in general ledger reconciliation and account accuracy.
