Job Description

Job Summary:
The School Finance Partner plays a critical role in supporting schools and students by monitoring, analyzing, and advising on budget decisions. This role reports to the Manager of School Finance in the Financial Services group. It involves working with multiple funding sources, ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements, and supporting school leadership with financial guidance.
Work Location:
In-person position based in Grand Rapids, MI.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with school leadership and departments to develop, review, and adjust budgets. Provide regular updates on spending to support proactive decision-making. Monitor school budgets for sustainability, compliance, and program alignment. Prepare and submit accurate financial reports, statements, and student record information using multiple systems. Stay current with federal, state, and local accounting rules, laws, and regulations. Create and submit grant applications and amendments based on school and student needs. Represent school financial needs with departments of education, school boards, and authorizers. Communicate effectively with schools, vendors, departments, and state agencies while delivering excellent customer service. ssess complex financial situations and recommend solutions independently or with the team. ssist with programmatic and financial audits. Maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive information. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required (accounting, business, or related field preferred). Experience in business, accounting, or related field. Strong communication skills (written and verbal). Self-directed, motivated, and growth-oriented. Collaborative team player with proven interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. bility to analyze and summarize large datasets. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Accounting, Business, or related field preferred). Experience in business, accounting, or related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
