Aug 10, 2026 Job Description Frontier School Corporation is seeking a highly skilled School Nurse to join our district. Qualifications Current Indiana Registered Nurse license in good standing. Current CPR certification. Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor. Displays a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Has good organizational, management, interpersonal, and technical skills. Can use good judgment and discretion in handling emergencies, deciding on procedures to be implemented, setting priorities, maintaining standards of care, and resolving problems. Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Serve as the health care expert in the school to meet student health needs with an understanding of normal growth and development in children and youth, as well as students with special needs. Provide leadership in promoting health and safety, including a healthy environment. Provide health-related education and guidance to students, families, and staff members. Monitor student immunization status and compliance with state health requirements; submit state reports as required. Employ effective infection control through early detection, monitoring, and reporting of contagious illness according to public health guidelines. Be alert to potential safety hazards in the school environment and participate in reporting and remedying unsafe conditions. Be familiar with and/or contribute to the development of school safety plans regarding bullying, school violence, and the full range of emergencies that may occur at school. Provide quality health care and intervene in actual and potential health problems. Provide healthcare for chronic and acute illness, as well as injuries, in the school setting. Safely administer and monitor medications that are required during the school day according to the Corporation policy. Perform health care procedures as ordered by students' health care providers. Perform vision and hearing screenings. Maintain an effective health office setting, including accurate record keeping and maintenance of adequate supplies. Use clinical judgment in providing case management services. Receive and implement medical orders and communicate medical information to the appropriate staff as needed. Assist in the development of Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) as needed. Provide health care information to the educational teams developing Special Education plans, such as Individualized Educational Plans and Section 504 Plans. Actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning. Provide families with information about available community resources as needed to improve access to health care. Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, students, parents, and the community as needed to meet professional standards. Maintain accurate records (students' performance data, clerical responsibilities, Medicare billing, etc.) to document accurate student information and reports. Participate in meetings and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee per the Board of Education. Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
