Full-time TITLE:
Licensed Practical Nurse (School Nurse)
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing. 2. Meets all physical and health requirements of the Greene County School System. 3. Knowledge of the treatment and nursing care needs of children with special health problems 4. Ability to work and communicate with educators, school nurses, students and parents. 5. Must work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
REPORTS TO
System School Nurses, Supervisor of Special Education, Principal of Assigned School and the Director of Schools.
JOB GOAL
To attain and maintain optimal physical, emotional and educational health of children by performing medical procedures, assisting with their nursing care needs, and providing education for healthful living.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide health care services to identified students as directed by the school nurse and the IEP. 2. Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of procedures, reports, and activities. 3. Actively participate in the direction and planning of health services to identified groups of students. 4. Work with students with communicable diseases. 5. Attend IEP meetings, as necessary, for those children with special health care needs to provide medical input and assist with goal development. 6. Coordinate activities with school nurses and facilitate the appropriate sharing of information within the system. 7. Serve as resource person for other school personnel and provide information to them when indicated. 8. Actively participate in in-service training for school personnel. 9. Always comply with school system policy on confidentiality. 10. Demonstrate competency in performance of medical procedures. 11. Perform other duties as directed.
