Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a vital school-based nursing role supporting medically fragile students in educational settings near Rochester, NY. Two contract opportunities are available—one in an elementary school on the west side and another in a high school in Brockport, with workweeks averaging around 30-32.5 hours (not including lunch breaks). Both positions extend from now through the end of June, with possible extension. You'll be a key resource for students who require specialized medical oversight, providing dedicated care and ensuring safe participation in school activities.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Current LPN or LVN license in New York State Experience working with pediatric and/or young adult populations, ideally in a school or LTAC (Long-Term Acute Care) environment Proven skill in managing tracheostomies, g-tubes, diabetes care, and seizure disorders Able to confidently respond to medically fragile student needs throughout the school day Willing and able to ride the school bus with one student as needed, with the other student cared for on campus Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with educators, families, and allied support staff Minimum of one supervisor reference required with application
Daily Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care during the school day, including medication administration, monitoring, and emergency intervention Support students' participation in educational and extracurricular programming Serve as a liaison between school staff, families, and healthcare providers Maintain diligent, accurate health records in compliance with privacy regulations Provide compassionate support and advocacy for assigned students Compensation for these roles is competitive, with rates starting at $32-$35 per hour and consideration given to experienced candidates.
