Job Description

Position for the 2025-2026 School Year, 190 day contracts from July 2025-June 2026 Must hold a current valid servsafe manager certification School Nutrition Experience preferred . 1. Follow oral or written instructions as required. 2. Prepares nutritious acceptable food to provide a pattern for healthy eating, improve student health, provide energy for optimal learning and increase student participation in school nutrition. 3. Serve foods throughout each meal period that are attractive, palatable and safe. 4. Portion food to meet nutritional needs of students and to fulfill regulations for fund reimbursement. 5. Implement sanitation techniques that will provide a sanitary and attractive work place to maintain above 90% scores on health inspections and prevent transfer of bacteria to food. 6. Employs efficient and safe work habits so that productivity is increased and all aspects of the job are completed within the allotted time. 7. Support the nutrition program and over-all school program as a team player to foster good communication between students, faculty, parents, and nutrition staff. 8. Manage the program in accordance with federal, state and local requirements. 9. Cooperate with the principal, director, and faculty in planning, developing and utilizing the school food and nutrition program and a laboratory to provide learning experiences for students. 10. Work with director as needed to plan and evaluate menus as required for reimbursement, which incorporate time saving production techniques, effective merchandising and nutrition education activities. 11. Utilize input from students, staff and others, food acceptance, plate waste surveys, and taste tests to make changes/choices of food items purchased, prepared and served. 12. Involve students, staff, and community in school food service activities. 13. Instruct school nutrition assistants in their use and insist that specified recipes be followed. 14. For each recipe, order food items to meet portion sizes, servings per unit and expected production. 15. Plan menu themes for special occasions and in school promotions. Look for new serving techniques that will appeal to customers. 16. Order or purchase food, non-food items and equipment wisely, and upon delivery, check against order and invoice for quality, quantity and accurate weight as specified on the bid. 17. Insure that all foods are properly received, stored and rotated in use, preventing waste and spoilage. (FIFO-first in first out) 18. Monitor meal cost to maintain a financially sound program. 19. Maintain accurate records and controls on financial data, personnel, inventories, operational reports and records and the purchasing of food, supplies and equipment. 20. Maintain required system of accountability. Submit reports on schedule. 21. Insure that standards of health, safety and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen and that employees personally conform to the health and safety directives of the Georgia School and Community Nutrition Program. Observe worker's health to protect the public against disease. 22. Implement, and follow Lamar County HACCP Plan and all SOP's 23. Complete, review and file all HACCP logs and forms for each month. 22. Ability and willingness to perform any and all duties necessary for food preparation and service in the event employees are absent and no substitute is available. 23. Report all accidents immediately and complete all forms as required. 24. Understands and uses the PCS System of accountability 25. Be responsible for security of all foods, supplies, equipment. 25. Assume other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, sit, climb and lift items of approximately 40 pounds unassisted throughout the workday and 50 pounds with assistance and work for extended periods in varying degrees of temperature and humidity.
