Job Description

Category Schools - School Psychologist Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting junior high students as a School Psychologist covering a maternity leave. This contract opportunity allows you to make a meaningful difference during the school year, fostering a safe and supportive learning environment near Elizabeth, NJ. You'll provide critical services over key dates: August 25, 26, and 27, then September 1, 2026, through January 29, 2027, working collaboratively in a dynamic and engaging junior high setting.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid state certification/licensure as a School Psychologist Previous experience in a junior high or secondary education setting preferred Strong skills in counseling, assessment, and individualized intervention planning Deep understanding of IEP processes and Special Education regulations Outstanding interpersonal skills to connect with students, staff, and families Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines Proficiency in administering and interpreting standardized psychological assessments
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct psychological assessments and write formal reports for students in need Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams on intervention strategies Facilitate social-emotional learning initiatives and crisis intervention as needed Attend IEP meetings, providing expert input on accommodations and student programming Support students through short-term counseling services and ongoing consultation Engage with families, offering guidance and resources to enhance student success Make a lasting impact in a welcoming school environment where your expertise truly matters.
