School Year Primary Function:
To provide direct and indirect services to students, families, and school personnel to promote and support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral successes. Qualifications â€"
Education & Experience:
Valid Michigan School Social Work License. Minimum of Master's Degree. Maintain or eligible for MDE approval for School Social Worker or ability to work under temporary approval. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Conducts systematic assessment, data gathering, and interpretation at multiple levels using a variety of methods (for example, interview, direct observation, standardized instruments, surveys, focus groups) to assess the needs, characteristics, and interactions of students, families, and school personnel. Conducts reliable and valid assessments of students and organizations to determine special education eligibility and inform the design of interventions to remove barriers to learning. Remains current with school-based intervention research and use evidence-informed practices in service delivery. Designs interventions to enhance positive educational experiences and involve the student, the family, other team members, school personnel, and community resources as appropriate. Bases interventions on assessments relevant to the concerns in the referral and include goals, objectives, methods of evaluation, and outcome criteria. Conducts ongoing evaluation to determine the level of effectiveness of all interventions through consistent and regular progress monitoring. Maintains timely, accurate, and confidential records that document school social work services, demonstrate outcomes, and promote accountability to the local education agency and community. Leads the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) team processes. Serves as a team member on building Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) teams, and suicide/threat assessment teams. Engages parents, school personnel, other professionals and community members in the removal of barriers to learning. Provides leadership and collaboration in the implementation of comprehensive school-based and school-linked programs that promote student well-being and positive academic outcomes. Openly support and abide by all school policies and procedures. Maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance. Support the Oxford Community Schools vision and mission. Perform other duties as assigned.
