Aug 21, 2026 Job Description The Alburgh Community Education Center is currently seeking a 1.0 FTE School Therapist to join our team. Alburgh is located in the Champlain Islands region of Vermont and is part of the greater Burlington area. We operate a PreK-8 school consisting of approximately 200 students. Our high school students have "choice" and receive a voucher to attend an independent or public middle or high school which best meets the student's needs. We are looking for an experienced, mission-aligned clinician to provide clinical services to a small group of students with significant behavioral and emotional needs. The selected candidate will also provide coaching, training, and education to the school community with the intention of creating a more trauma-attuned community.This position will include extensive training to ensure that the chosen individual will have a strong knowledge of the organization's protocols and model of services. Salary:
starting at $50,000Clinical & Mental Health Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students with social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs Conduct risk assessments (including suicide and threat assessments) and coordinate appropriate responses Support students in developing coping strategies, emotional regulation, and resilience Assist with crisis intervention and post-crisis planningPsychological Assessment & Evaluation:
Interpret assessment data and provide clear, actionable recommendations Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as a clinical expert Utilize multiple data sources (observations, assessments, behavioral data) to inform decisionsConsultation & Collaboration:
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student success Assist in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans Communicate regularly with families to strengthen home-school partnerships Coordinate with outside providers and community agenciesSystem Level & Preventative Work:
Support school-wide PBIS and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives Assist in implementing restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches Use data (e.g., SWIS, attendance, behavioral trends) to guide interventions Help ensure every student is connected to a trusted adult through relationship mappingCompliance & Documentation:
Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and state regulations Document services, progress monitoring, and communicationProfessional Development Responsibilities:
Demonstrates a commitment to developing strong working relationships with school administration, district leadership, teachers, and paraprofessionals. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Maintain licensure and adhere to ethical standards Contribute positively to a collaborative, student-centered school culture Consults with school administrators, teachers, and staff (including clinicians) on mental health and trauma-attuned modalities (TAM) in their school community. Provide coaching and training to school administrators, teachers, and staff on mental health issues, and protocols. Provide coaching and training on mental health issues to caregivers, guardians, and parents.Administrative Responsibilities:
Submits Clinical Documentation in a timely manner, aligned with the electronic medical record. Maintains current professional license and adheres to ethical standards in accordance with the governing board. Consistently attends work on scheduled day and time, in professional attire and with a professional demeanor. Collects the necessary data: grades, discipline, attendance, to ensure all metric goals are met Participates in completing clinicians' performance evaluations Demonstrates the ability to develop action plans when data falls below ESS standards Prepares relevant data in preparation for coordinator meetingsQualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or related field Current state licensure as a Clinical Psychologist, Pre Clinical Psychology, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), or equivalent Experience working with children and adolescents Strong background in counseling, assessment, and consultation Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Worked in or has experience collaborating with school districts preferred. Effective problem-solving and communication skills. Experience working with students and families, plus community mental health and social service agencies. Must be able to complete thorough clinical documentation.
