Join the "Social Workers at the Forefront" Program! Helping schools and communities to speak their truths, amplify their voices, and advocate for personal and community transformation through shaping and sharing narratives. This placement is an opportunity to work with Herstory Writers Network , an innovative community-based organization that uses memoir creation as a vehicle for investigating and unpacking structural issues, challenges, strengths, and opportunities in school districts, economically and racially segregated communities and the criminal legal system. We work in partnership with institutions and communities to move past statistics by bringing our workshops to their clients, students and community members to create counter-narratives of empowerment that support healing and nurture leadership for racial and social justice and systemic change. The Consultant MSW Field Supervisor duties will include:
Weekly Supervision:
Provide at least one hour of scheduled, individual supervision every week for each of the five (5) MSW fellows (remote).
Bi-Weekly Team Meetings:
Participate in meetings with program staff and partners to provide guidance on trauma-informed practices, support the integration of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies, identify participant support needs, and strengthen connections to community-based resources and services.
Monthly Site Visits:
Travel to field placements to observe MSW fellows. Sites may include Wyandanch, Central Islip, and Westbury. Hybrid remote/in-person throughout central
Long Island Timeframe & Salary:
This is a 10-month position from August 2026 to May 2027. Weekly hours to be arranged. Payment is $2,500 per month.
Qualifications:
MSW degree, have at least two to three years of post-master's agency experience, and hold an active state license. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are bilingual and/or represent the communities we serve.
