Job Description
Minimum qualifications: A PhD in physics, astrophysics, electrical engineering, or a related discipline; At least 3 years experience with TES detectors and SQUID-based multiplexed readout; Experience testing detectors at millikelvin temperatures Three or more years of postdoctoral experience.

The SPT-3G+ camera project is led by Professor Bradford Benson. Duties will include developing cryogenic testbeds for the superconducting TES detectors and the SQUID-based microwave multiplexed readout, implementation of robust quality control procedures, documentation and publication of results, and working with and supporting the training of students. The Research Scientist is expected to give public presentations at conferences and help prepare grants and reports on their research. The Research Scientist will have opportunities to collaborate more broadly within the South Pole Telescope (SPT) program. This work could involve instrument development, instrument testing, calibration, and data analysis. The expected start date is June 2026. The initial appointment will be up to three years.
