Los Alamos, New Mexico What You Will Do The Quantum and Condensed Matter Physics Group is seeking qualified candidates to hire as graduate students to work within our research teams. This is an educational opportunity for the selected candidates to contribute to cutting-edge scientific research and to learn new skills and areas. The Quantum and Condensed Matter Physics Group (T-4) in the Theoretical Division conducts both basic and applied theoretical research in a wide range of areas, including quantum matter, strongly correlated systems, quantum information science, quantum computing, quantum photonics, materials physics, nonequilibrium dynamics, statistical physics, applied energy, and atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics including opacity. This research supports the missions of the U.S. Department of Energy. You will work on a research project with a staff scientist mentor and co-mentor in one of the aforementioned areas. The position is expected to begin typically in the summer, but it can begin anytime during the year. What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program in physics, chemistry or engineering. Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent). Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).Desired Qualifications:
Experience with conducting scientific research. Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal and written) well in a professional scientific context.Work Location:
