The group's activities focus on fundamental studies of experimental quantum physics research with superconducting circuits and cold atoms. We are seeking a motivated researcher with expertise in either of these two fields to help build this next-generation quantum interface. This position will be responsible for designing and implementing a Rydberg atomic ensemble system in a cryogenic environment and carrying out Rydberg atom experiments. The position will also involve designing the interface between the superconducting circuit and the atomic system. In addition, you will be expected to participate in grant writing, writing manuscripts for publication, presenting at conferences, ensuring compliance with safety, and assist with mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
Position Details:
The position is funded initially for one year and housed within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh, working with Dr. Yue (Joyce) Jiang and collaborators. The position may be extended pending funding and performance. Start date is as soon as practicable and is negotiable. Successful conferral of your PhD is required prior to the start of your appointment.
Required:
A PhD in Physics with a specialization in superconducting circuits or laser-cooled Rydberg atoms.
Preferred:
Preferred experience with laser-cooled Rydberg atom systems, experience in superconducting circuit fabrication, or experience in integrating cryogenics with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
To apply:
Please apply within the Talent Center job posting through join.pitt.edu, and email Dr. Jiang at JOJ134@pitt.edu with email subject "Postdoc Opportunity" and the following combined as 1 pdf attachment: A cover letter describing your career goals, research interest, and past accomplishments.
