job summary: Ready to accelerate your scientific career? Join a collaborative team in the Biologic Discovery unit, where you will actively support membrane protein purification and general laboratory operations. This role offers an immersive opportunity to contribute to multiple high-impact projects by executing established laboratory protocols, maintaining accurate experimental records, and supporting protein production workflows in a fast-paced research setting. You will be working daily at a state-of-the-art facility located in South San Francisco, CA.

South San Francisco, California job type: Contract salary: $25.00 - 30.33 per hour work hours: 9 to 5 education: Bachelors responsibilities: Perform membrane protein purification workflows, including cell lysis, membrane pellet preparation, and affinity chromatography using anti-FLAG, Strep-Tactin, and Ni-NTA systems. Operate AKTA chromatography systems and related laboratory instrumentation for protein purification and analysis. Conduct protein characterization assays including SDS-PAGE, western blotting, spectrophotometry, colorimetric assays, and HPLC methods for quality control. Prepare laboratory reagents, buffers, and samples accurately according to established protocols. Maintain detailed, compliant laboratory documentation, experimental records, and electronic systems while managing the storage and tracking of protein inventories. Support routine laboratory maintenance, monitor inventory, and organize consumables to ensure seamless operations.qualifications:
Required Skills Education & Experience:
Master's degree; OR Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of scientific lab experience; OR Associate's degree with 4+ years of experience; OR HS Diploma/GED with 6+ years of experience.Lab Fundamentals:
Minimum 2 years of hands-on laboratory experience in academic or industry settings with proficiency in micropipetting, sample preparation, buffer preparation, centrifuges, balances, and pH meters.Techniques:
Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, following established protocols, and a strong understanding of sterile technique and mammalian cell culture practices.Core Competencies:
Exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational/data-recording skills, and effective written and verbal communication within a collaborative team. Preferred Skills Experience specifically with membrane protein purification workflows and chromatography methods. Familiarity and hands-on experience with AKTA purification/chromatography systems. Direct experience culturing mammalian cells.
