Job Description

Spectrix Analytical Services, LLC is searching for a candidate for a full-time long-term, permanent position as a Plate Based Screening Biologist at our client's Discovery Biology and Pharmacology Group. The job location is Groton CT.
Job Responsibilities:
This job function will support in-vitro plate based screening operations. It is expected the new hire will be trained across assay platforms in order to provide consistent screening and operational flexibility. This job function will require flexible scheduling and extended work day hours with overlapping schedules within the team. Run plate-based assays on a daily basis using supplied protocol to deliver high quality screening data with rapid turnaround times to drive rapid and efficient decision making. Running experiments include planning experiment, preparing buffers and specific assay reagents for experiment, executing assay(s) using plates supplied by Sample Logistics with compound dilutions, processing/reading plates and analyzing data. Cell culture may be required to propagate and maintain various clonal and primary cell lines to support screening efforts. Analyze data according supplied protocol using Abase® or BioBook® templates. QC data according to supplied protocol and upload data into client database. Data delivered to teams within ~24 hours of completion of wet bench work or as specified in supplied protocol. Responsible for ordering supplies as needed to deliver plate-based screening data. Perform general laboratory maintenance, including routine troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
Job Requirements:
BS in biology or related field with 1-3 years of relevant experience in cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology and/or enzymology, or MS in a similar field with 0-1 year of relevant experience. Experience with standard plate-based in-vitro assays (e.g. HTRF, FP, ELISA, coupled enzyme systems, FLIPR, Caliper, radioactive binding, etc.) Experience using standard laboratory liquid handling equipment and automation technologies including Biomek EX or I7, Combi, Apricot, Platemate Plus, etc. Experience using standard laboratory readers including: Envision, MicroBeta Trilux, ViewLux, FLiPR (384, Tetra), Spectromax, etc. Experience using Microsoft Products, GraphPad Prism, ABase, Biobook, Signals Ability to keep accurate records using electronic notebooks. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time. Ability to work in high-throughput environment. Ability to create common laboratory reagents including buffers and reference standards. Team player with attention to detail. $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
