Negotiable General Function:
Teach Biology courses, including the introductory Biologysequence. This position will be responsible for teaching and advising students in the Biology, STEM, and Health programs. This individualwill be responsible for curriculum design and organization of new courses within the biology curriculum. The successful applicant also mustbe willing to foster outreach partnerships and collaborative relationships with area agencies, local schools, and mutually supportingorganizations. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to Andrew College's other course offerings. A candidate who can also teachChemistry is not required, but preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support of theCollege's mission by attendance at its events and familiarity with the history and purpose of Andrew College as a two and four-year,church-related college, and a lifestyle and philosophy compatible with the purpose of the College 2. A high level of ethics andacademic practices 3. Adherence to college policies and procedures 4. Commitment to excellence in teaching and enhancementof student learning 5. Availability to students to advise them in academic matters 6. Service to the institution by activeinvolvement in committee work and the decision-making processes regarding academic matters 7. Participation in programs ofevaluation that include self-evaluation, peer evaluation, program evaluation, course evaluation, and administrative evaluation 8.Evidence of professional growth 9. The exercise of academic freedom in a responsible fashion 10. Recognition and support ofthe rights of students, which include the right to privacy of information, the right to due process, the right of appeal, the right toquality instruction, and the right to be treated with dignity.
Minimum Requirements:
Master's in
Biology Preferred:
18 graduate credits in Chemistry in addition to the Biology credential. Ph.D. in Biology Three to five years of teaching experience
Working Conditions:
Office and classroomenvironment with minimum lifting (25 pounds) required. Flexible teaching and office hours to include late afternoons and occasionalSaturdays.
