IU School of Medicine Gary Position Summary Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM)•Northwest•Gary, one of eight regional campuses in the IUSM statewide system, invites applications from outstanding individuals with expertise and teaching experience in pharmacology for a faculty position in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Pharmacology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Successful candidates will be responsible for teaching all pharmacology topics in multiple foundational science courses throughout the first two years of IUSM's innovative organ system-based curriculum. Responsibilities will include coordination with Pharmacology discipline consultant and relevant statewide course management teams to ensure curricular integrity, preparation of course materials, presentation of lectures and facilitation of small group learning sessions, continuous review and improvement of the curriculum, and maintaining a broad knowledge of up-to-date scholarship in relevant fields to insure that course content is current and meets or exceeds the standards expected by the University. IUSM-Northwest-Gary is home to IUSM's Urban Medicine Program, focused on education and research to address health and health care disparities among urban under-resourced communities. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in health services, community health, epidemiology or outcomes research. Cultural activities on campus are numerous, including an IUN sponsored local drama group, the Northwest Theater, and The Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. In addition, the numerous sports events, museums, ethnic neighborhoods, restaurants, and cultural attractions of Chicago are less than an hour drive from the Campus. For those who prefer an escape to the out-of-doors, the Hoosier Prairie and the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, in addition to numerous parks in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties, are outstanding areas for hiking, swimming, picnics, and cross-country skiing.
