Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Research Assistant for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant performs research and contributes to maintenance of lab supplies and equipment. Studies include dissection of embryonic and postnatal mouse brain regions; tissue fixation, embedding, and cryosectioning; brain tissue antigen retrieval, histochemical and immunofluorescent identification of protein expression; embryonic and postnatal mouse brain neuroanatomy, with focus on cerebral cortex, hippocampus, cerebellum; computer-based tissue and cell quantitative analysis including NeuroStereology; brightfield and ultraviolet microscopy; data acquisition and entry into Excel spreadsheets and application of GraphPad software; preparation of graphs and PowerPoint slide presentations; performance of immunoblotting techniques of brain homogenates, and PCR analysis of genotypes; literature search and summary. Among the key duties of this position are the following: As directed, performs various technical tasks related to ongoing research in the lab to study neural precursor cell proliferation, survival, migration, differentiation, and maturation. Performs full analysis of multiple mouse genetics models of NDDs, from embryonic litters to postnatal pups using diverse genetic and molecular techniques. Contributes to validation of results obtained by other lab members. Responsible for submitting purchase recommendations to PI to assist with ordering and maintaining lab supplies. Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. FLSA Nonexempt Grade 99H Salary Details $17.00/hour Minimum Salary 15.92 Mid Range Salary 75.00 Maximum Salary 150.000 Offer Information The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position.
