Collaborate with cross-functional groups to coordinate studies and document results. Travel to external laboratories to execute viral clearance studies in accordance with GLP standards. Responsibilities Perform scale-down models for viral inactivation, chromatography, and membrane filtration unit operations. Travel 20-25% to external laboratories to execute viral clearance studies in accordance with GLP. Collaborate with cross-functional groups to coordinate studies and document results in electronic laboratory notebooks or technical reports. Present work at team or group meetings. Review protocols, reports, risk assessments, and other technical documents. Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and resolve instrumental/experimental problems. Support the development of state-of-the-art technologies influencing viral clearance or protein purification. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the functional team. Essential Skills Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Virology, or related fields. 1 to 5 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Working knowledge of protein purification principles. Skills in laboratory techniques including pipetting, solution preparation, pH titration, and aseptic technique. Experience with statistical analysis, chromatography, membrane filtration, AKTA systems, JMP, Unicorn software, cGMP, cGLP, cGDP, process validation, and regulatory requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Coding experience using RStudio, Python, Matlab, or similar platforms. Capability for occasional travel for work. Work Environment Work in a small group within a larger team of around 50 in a fast-paced pilot scale laboratory setting. The role requires being onsite 5 days per week, with quarterly travel to the Rensselaer, NY site. You will be part of the Purification Development group within Pre-Clinical Manufacturing and Process Development, focusing on viral clearance studies to ensure virus safety of biotechnology products from Phase I clinical trials through commercial licensure. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
