Job Duties:
(20%) Performs mammalian tissue culture Grows, maintains, expands, and treats mammalian cell lines Develops, evaluates and implements new or modified culture procedures Improves laboratory methods of primary tissue culture (20%) Performs DNA/RNA/Protein analysis Extracts DNA/RNA/Protein from mammalian cells/tissues. Analyzes DNA/RNA/Protein by PCR, Northern Blot, and Western Blot (20%) Performs C. elegans culture Grows, maintains, expands, and treats worm lines Develops, evaluates and implements new or modified culture procedures Improves laboratory methods of worm culture (15%) Prepares laboratory records Prepares daily records of experimental procedures and results (10%) Assist DLAR with maintenance of mouse colony Manage mouse colony numbers and supervise breeding schedules PCR genotyping of mice tail clippings Assist animal experiments for other lab members (10%) Prepares laboratory records and maintain laboratory supplies Orders and places laboratory supplies (5%) Upon request, performs other tasks requested by faculty to maintain a smooth operation of laboratory Performs collaborations with inside and outside colleagues
Minimum Requirements:
Required to have a minimum Bachelor's degree in Biology or related subjects. Preferred to have Master's degree or previous research experience in mouse breeding and colony maintenance.
