Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Microbiology Technician for a 9-week travel assignment in Atlanta, Georgia . This is an excellent opportunity for laboratory professionals with strong microbiology experience who can work independently in a fast-paced hospital laboratory.

July 27, 2026 Requirements Minimum 2 years of recent Microbiology laboratory experience . ASCP Certification required. Previous travel experience required. Experience working in a hospital clinical laboratory . Proficiency in microbiology sample processing and plating , Gram stains , positive blood cultures , and molecular testing using BioFire and Cepheid platforms. Experience with aerobic and anaerobic cultures, organism identification, PCR testing, culture reading, sensitivities, and quality control. Ability to float within the laboratory as needed. Must be available to work every third weekend and assigned holidays. Responsibilities Perform microbiology testing and specimen processing following laboratory protocols. Process, plate, culture, and identify microorganisms from patient specimens. Perform Gram stains, molecular testing, PCR testing, and blood culture analysis. Read and interpret culture results while ensuring accuracy and quality standards. Maintain laboratory equipment and comply with infection control and safety guidelines. Document test results accurately and communicate findings promptly. Collaborate with pathologists, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate patient care. Assist with quality assurance activities and maintain compliance with laboratory regulations.
