We help our customers operate with total confidence in the predictability, security, and reliability of their technology resources to meet business objectives by providing a wide array of professional services and products. We are looking for a candidate to provide Entomology support to aid in the mission accomplishment of the School of Aerospace Medicine, 711 HPW and DoW.
What You'll Do:
Demonstrated ability to follow safety rules, operating instructions and maintenance procedures to ensure occupational, regulatory and legal compliance. The ability to pick up samples from shipment locations. Complete in-processing of samples. Assist with the identification of medically important pests and arthropods; assign laboratory sample reference numbers. Assist with testing, analyzing, preparing, storing, vouchering and curating samples as directed by the program manager. Compile, analyze and report Entomology related surveillance data and performance metrics to stakeholders as directed by the program manager. Report test results to the Program Manager. Input test results in databases and spreadsheets. Prepare results reports for submitting organizations in an accurate, professional and timely manner. Send reports via email or other method to submitters. Respond to inquiries about samples, tests, etc. from submitting organizations or other stakeholders. Contact submitting organizations regarding shipment and sample inquiries, collect and document required information. Complete data entry, perform data quality checks for accuracy, database entry corrections, and maintain databases and files (electronic and hard copy). Assist with form creation and completion as needed. Input data into the Entomology database and also utilize Microsoft Excel to maintain entomology sample and other program data (ex. inventories). Input or accession samples, information and associated sequence data in NCBI GenBank or BOLD Systems as directed by the program manager. As directed by the program manager, completes and submits forms and performs other administrative tasks to meet requirements of the United States Department of Agriculture, US Fish and Wildlife Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Homeland Security, International Air Transport Association, US Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, and the Air Force Research Laboratory. Assist with regulatory compliance of Entomology laboratory activities with federal, state, local, installation, and international requirements.
What You Bring:
Possess an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution in biology, environmental health or another science field. Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Have specialized experience working full time as documented by employment history in a military or civilian entomology or vector surveillance program.
