Job Description

Microbiology Technician Level 1
Position Overview:
The Microbiology Technician performs entry-level and routine microbiology testing and laboratory functions. The ideal candidate will assist the Supervisor with various tasks to ensure smooth laboratory operations and maintain high standards of quality.
Responsibilities:
Microbiology Testing:
o Perform entry-level and routine microbiology tests such as complete micro and rapid complete micro. o Prepare and process samples for analysis following standard procedures.
Laboratory Functions:
o Verify and maintain laboratory equipment. o Make accurate log entries of testing and maintenance activities. o Clean and sanitize the laboratory area regularly. o Autoclave garbage and perform other routine laboratory tasks.
Support:
o Assist with other tasks assigned by the Supervisor to support laboratory operations.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
o Preferred High School Diploma or Equivalent o Prefer at least 1 year of laboratory or related employment experience.
Skills:
o Basic analytical skills for conducting microbiology tests. o Proficient in using computers and laboratory information management systems. o Ability to maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment. o Attention to detail and accuracy in performing tests and recording data. o Good communication skills to interact with laboratory staff and supervisors.
Physical Requirements:
Physical activities may occasionally include: o Remaining in stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time. o Adjusting or moving objects up to 15 pounds in all directions.
Physical activities may constantly include:
o Communicating with others to exchange information. o Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. o Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
Environmental Conditions may occasionally include:
o Noisy office environment o Noisy production facility
Pay:
$16.00 - $17.00 per hour
