  • The Opportunity:
  • A Postdoctoral fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent scientist to join the laboratory of Dr.
Scott Foster in the Department of Discovery Oncology at Genentech to answer fundamental questions related to cancer biology and cellular metabolism. The Foster Lab is dedicated to deciphering the mechanistic connection underlying novel cancer cell dependencies and synthetic lethal interactions that offer high potential for therapeutic exploitation. In this role, you will employ a diverse range of molecular and cell biology techniques to explore fundamental cancer cell biology related to cellular metabolism, in particular redox biology. You will have access to state-of-the-art technologies and will be able collaborate with other researchers across the organization to accelerate research progress and foster interdisciplinary knowledge. In addition, you will have access to Genentech's rich environment of core facilities, including animal modeling, protein chemistry and computational biology. As a former Genentech postdoc, I can attest to the outstanding training and mentorship available through this program. The program provides ample opportunities to present your work both internally and externally, career development support, and exposure to an environment with a broad focus, ranging from basic science to drug development, with the goal to accelerate breakthrough discoveries.
  • Who You Are:
  • + A Ph.
D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field, with a proven track record of research accomplishments + Must have advanced at least one research project as evidenced by a first author publication (published or accepted) in a high impact journal + Knowledge and hands-on experience in the area of cancer cell biology and cellular metabolism is required + Expertise in a wide range of molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology techniques, in particular generating large omic data sets is mandatory + Strong collaboration skills to work closely with scientists across different disciplines to bring projects to completion is needed + Independent scientist with outstanding communication and writing skills, with a strong passion and commitment to science and cancer cell biology
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • + Experience with _in vivo_ mouse models is a plus + Computational experience to assist in analyzing / interpreting high dimensional data is a plus For relevant publications, please go to: https://pubmed.

Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
