Job Description

Scientist - Proteomics & Mass Spectrometry South San Francisco, CA | 12-month contract | Onsite | $60-70/hour We are seeking an experienced Scientist to join a highly collaborative proteomics and mass spectrometry team within a cutting-edge R&D environment. This is a hands-on laboratory role for someone who thrives in complex, multi-disciplinary research settings and enjoys solving challenging biological and analytical problems. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in proteomics, biochemistry, and mass spectrometry-based workflows, alongside a detail-driven and organised approach to experimental work. You will be involved in both standard and advanced proteomics techniques, including protein affinity workflows, immunoprecipitation, and enrichment strategies for post-translational modifications. The team works across a broad range of biological research areas including disease biology, immune pathways, and technology development, supporting translational and early discovery programmes. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process biological samples from tissues, cells, and biofluids for proteomics analysis Develop, optimise, and refine sample preparation workflows for protein profiling and biomarker discovery Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HPLC systems, mass spectrometers, and associated bioanalytical instrumentation Analyse proteomics datasets and communicate findings to internal collaborators Present experimental results in group meetings and cross-functional scientific discussions Support ongoing assay development and research initiatives across multiple disease areas Requirements PhD in proteomics, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, chemical engineering, or a related discipline Strong hands-on experience in mass spectrometry-based proteomics Demonstrated experience in HPLC and/or LC-MS method development and optimisation Experience maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (HPLC and mass spectrometers) Practical experience in proteomics sample preparation workflows Proficiency in data analysis using R and/or Python Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills Desirable Experience Protein affinity workflows including immunoprecipitation Post-translational modification enrichment and analysis Laser capture microdissection (LCM) Histology-related sample handling (e.g. FFPE, cryosectioning) Please apply with an updated copy of your resume to be considered. ...
