Job Description
Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department is seeking to hire a Seasonal Noxious Weed Intern . The Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department has an opening for a Seasonal Noxious Weed Intern to perform a variety of duties assisting with Noxious Weed Enforcement in Boulder County. Noxious weeds threaten valuable wildlife habitat and natural resources, cause economic hardships to agricultural producers, and are a nuisance for recreational activities. The Seasonal Noxious Weed Intern will inform property owners if there are noxious weeds on their property, provide information on how to control noxious weeds using integrated methods to manage noxious weeds, and verify that the property owners follow through with their noxious weed management plan. This is an hourly, non-benefited position with an anticipated end date of October 31st that will work 12-30 hours per week , in a variable schedule based on business needs . This position will work out of 2045 13th St. , Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime). Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.

Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of: 2 ( two) years of college course work in botany, natural resources management, plant ecology, range ecology OR R elated field years AND 1 ( one) season of field work in plant identification, vegetation monitoring, or related volunteer management experienceDRIVER'S LICENSE

Bachelor degree in botany, natural resources management, plant ecology, range ecology, or related field Ability to identify plants to species using a dichotomous key Experience in interpreting aerial photos and topographic maps Familiarity with Colorado ecosystems and floraKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Basic computer and technical skills in Microsoft Office, data entry, ArcGIS, and Accela Strong organizational skills, including ability to log, track and monitor cases Commitment to public service Positive attitude and problem solving mindsetPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
