Job Description

EDM International is seeking motivated and professional Environmental Field Technicians to support avian nesting clearance surveys associated with vegetation management activities designed to reduce wildfire hazard along Colorado roadways. This is an excellent opportunity for junior or senior-level college students interested in practical wildlife conservation, field biology, and environmental compliance work. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in high-quality work, and wants to gain real-world field experience alongside experienced environmental professionals. What You'll Do Conduct avian nesting surveys along rights-of-way managed by the Colorado Department of Transportation Locate and document active and inactive nests of Colorado breeding bird species Collect and manage field data using project-specific applications Support structured and professional client communications under the direction of the field lead Work closely with experienced crew leadership to develop technical field skills and environmental consulting experience What We're Looking For At least 2 years of undergraduate coursework in wildlife biology, environmental science, or a related discipline Strong work ethic and professional attitude Safety-first mindset Ability to perform high-quality work in challenging field conditions, including inclement weather, long days, and physically demanding terrain Strong physical endurance and ability to safely navigate difficult outdoor environments Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to practical wildlife conservation efforts Willingness to work out of Fort Collins and travel throughout Colorado as needed Compensation & Schedule $22-25/hour, depending on experience Overtime eligible at 1.5x hourly rate Anticipated 4-day, 40+ hour workweeks Lodging provided for projects located more than one hour from Fort Collins Meal per diem provided on qualifying long field days Project currently scheduled for approximately 6 weeks, with potential for extension based on project needs About EDM International EDM International partners with utilities across the U.S. and internationally to reduce harmful interactions between wildlife and infrastructure. Our work supports conservation, regulatory compliance, utility reliability, and wildfire risk reduction.
