Job Description
The Department of Molecular Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join an NIH-funded research program. This position is available immediately and offers an exciting opportunity to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying Lyme disease. The successful candidate will conduct research focused on: Protein structure-function relationships Gene regulation Tick-mammal transmission dynamics Host-pathogen interactions of Borrelia burgdorferi , the Lyme disease spirochete This role is ideal for an individual with strong scientific curiosity who is interested in molecular pathogenesis, vector-borne diseases, and interdisciplinary research approaches.
Research:
The position offers an excellent training opportunity to conduct research in an attractive, dynamic research environment with outstanding resources. Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate administrator of a State university. Responsible for defining problem areas within the functional area to which assigned. Outlines research programs and projects, analyzes statistical and other data, and provides appropriate recommendations to address and eliminate problem areas. May be assigned teaching duties. Master's degree from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of academic research achievement, or professional qualifications in the field of specialization above those which would be equivalent to the highest degree. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Research Associate. A background in bacterial genetics and molecular biology will be given preference. Experience with analyzing protein structure and function, animal models, and/or tick biology is a plus.
