Full Job Description Description:
Bloom Fertility is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Embryologist to oversee all aspects of embryology laboratory operations. This individual will serve as the on-site laboratory leader, responsible for clinical excellence, staff leadership, and day-to-day lab performance. The Lead Embryologist will manage embryology and andrology staff and act as a key partner to physicians and leadership. This position reports to the Laboratory Director, who provides consultative oversight and periodic on-site presence. The Lead Embryologist operates with a high level of autonomy in daily operations while collaborating with the Laboratory Director and physicians on clinical protocols, process improvements, and strategic decisions. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of the embryology and andrology laboratories Directly manage, train, and mentor junior embryologists and andrology staff Establish staff schedules, workflows, and coverage plans Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management of laboratory personnel Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement Serve as the primary on-site decision-maker for laboratory operations Perform oocyte identification, denuding, and assessment Execute conventional insemination and ICSI procedures Receive specialized training and demonstrate proficiency in the preparation, loading, and unloading of INVOcell devices Conduct fertilization checks and embryo grading Perform micromanipulation procedures including assisted hatching and embryo biopsy Prepare embryos for transfer in coordination with physicians Perform vitrification and warming of oocytes and embryos Conduct semen analysis and preparation using established protocols Ensure compliance with all CLIA, CAP, FDA, and state regulatory requirements Maintain and continuously improve QA/QC programs Develop, implement, and enforce laboratory SOPs Ensure inspection readiness at all times Monitor laboratory KPIs (fertilization rates, blast rates, etc.) and implement improvements Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency Propose updates to protocols, equipment, and workflows Collaborate with the Laboratory Director and physicians to review and approve changes to clinical protocols and laboratory practices Troubleshoot laboratory issues and implement corrective actions Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and data integrity Why Join Us? Requirements:
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in biological or laboratory science Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on embryology experience Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred TS or ELD certification from the American Board of Bioanalysis preferred Strong knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards (CLIA, CAP, FDA) Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills Ability to work independently while managing a high-responsibility environment
