Regular, Part-Time (90% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Department of Tropical Medicine, Medical Microbiology and Pharmacology at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, located in Honolulu, Hawai'i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.MONTHLY SALARY RANGE
$4,500 - $5,500/Mon. (@90% FTE)DUTIES:
Designs and conducts research on studying the humoral and cellular immune responses after dengue and/or other flavivirus infection or vaccination including sequencing and generation of monoclinal antibodies from memory B-cells. Develops different serological assays using virions or virus-like particles formed by expression of dengue or other flavivirus precursor membrane and envelope proteins. Works with human blood products and pathogens within federal/state laws, rules, regulations and systems. Carries out in vitro experiments of molecular biology, virology and immunology. Collects and analyzes experimental data. Summarizes the results for presentation and publications.PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
PhD from an accredited college or university in Virology, Microbiology or related field.EXPERIENCE
One to three (1-3) years of experience in molecular biology, virology, or related fields.KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge to apply the principles, practices, and techniques in molecular biology and virology.ABILITIES & SKILLS
Ability to apply the principles, practices and techniques in molecular biology and virology. Ability to apply the principles, theories, federal/state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with working with human blood products and pathogens.Post Offer/Employment Condition:
Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. Must be able to complete the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) Bloodborne Pathogen Standards & Sharps Hazard Prevention training within one (1) month from date of hire.POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT
