Role Description This full-time, on-site Masters Student role is based at the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, Basic Medical Sciences Department, Dr Fortin Drug Discovery Lab, IN. The Masters Student will engage in graduate-level coursework, participate in laboratory drug discovery projects, and collaborate with students and faculty on ongoing studies in neurodegenerative drug di scovery. Day-to-day tasks may include designing and conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data, reviewing scientific literature, and preparing reports, presentations, or manuscripts. The role also involves attending seminars, lab meetings, and academic discussions. The position emphasizes professional development, critical thinking, and active participation in a collaborative, drug discovery interdisciplinary research environment. Qualifications Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data. Effective communication skills, including clear written, oral, and interpersonal communication in academic and research settings. Foundational knowledge in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physics or related quantitative sciences relevant to biomedical research. Demonstrated research experience or strong interest in research, including literature review, experimental design, and data evaluation. Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, or similar) for data analysis, modeling, or research support. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and manage time effectively in a full-time graduate program. Prior laboratory, clinical, or animal-related experience, and familiarity with scientific writing or presentations, are beneficial.
