Job Description
Position Overview The Fehr Lab at the University of Kansas seeks applications from highly-motivated and accomplished individuals for a post-doctoral position to conduct research on host-pathogen interactions of coronaviruses. The project will involve several molecular and genetic techniques including but not limited to: molecular cloning, cell culture, animal work, virological assays, gene knockdown/knockout, gene expression analysis, and protein-protein interactions/proteomics. The post-doc will also be trained to work in our bio-safety level-3 (BSL-3) facility for work with SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV. The University of Kansas is centered in Lawrence, Kansas. Lawrence is a vibrant, progressive college town with plenty of good food, cultural events and a wonderful downtown area with a very reasonable cost of living, and is about 45 miles from Kansas City.
Length of Appointment:

Conduct research, analyze data, present data at conferences, generate manuscripts for publication, contribute to grant proposals. 20%•Mentoring:
Mentor graduate student and undergraduate students in the lab on techniques and experimental approaches. 5%•Other:
Contribute to general lab duties, lab meetings, and department seminars and other events. Required Qualifications PhD in related field at time of appointment, not to exceed six months from date of hire.NOTE:
To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title or equivalent title, it is necessary to have the Ph.D. in hand. Appointments made without a certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an Acting basis not to exceed 6-months. Appointment duration will be extended upon final verification of degree. This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.
