Job Description
Use of specialized equipment:
Nanozoomer, Nikon Confocal microscope, microtome, Qiaxcel, Qiacube, tissue embedder, Nanodrop, Qubit, Azure C600 Imager, and Victor plate readers. Assist the lab manager with maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment as well as the training of new users. Maintains and organizes chemical inventory, antibody and cell databases. Breeding and maintenance of core mouse colony. Maintains mouse colony data in web-based software, assists with initial setup for the accounts of other lab members and trains lab members to use the software. Receives, distributes, and logs supplies received in laboratory. Assist the lab manager with ordering of supplies. Record results in a clear, detailed, well-organized manner. Critical analysis of data and preparation of verbal and written summaries of work for lab meetings. Assists with organizing materials for publications or presentations. Orientation and training of new graduate students, fellows, technicians and summer students, in coordination with the Lab Manager.SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to exhibit initiative and able to work independently. Must be highly reliable and organized. Ability to work in a group environment and be of assistance to a number of research projects. Analytical skills and ability to resolve technical problems. Ability to interpret acceptability of data results. High degree of computer literacy. Ability to prioritize tasks and set deadlines.
